The Galveston Scottish Rite Cathedral is the hidden gem of Galveston Island and a breathtaking treasure of architectural beauty. Emanating old world charm it is historic, elegant, and stately.


Built in 1929 in an Art-Deco style by the notable Texas architect Alfred C. Finn, our building is home to a historically preserved four hundred seat vaudeville-era theater, a magnificent library, an ornate ball room, as well as the famed Egyptian Room.

The Grand Ballroom

The Grand Ballroom, our most popular venue is over four thousand square feet with 25' ceilings and adorned throughout with beautiful columns and motifs. It features a unique raised orchestra balcony and seating for one hundred and fifty when dining and three hundred in rows. The perfect venue for large gatherings and banquets.

The Historic Theater

The four hundred seat historical theater contains a stunningly crafted one of a kind proscenium stage with dozens of near priceless and brilliantly illustrated fine art back drops capable of transporting you from Ancient Rome, to Medieval Castles, and Renaissance landscapes. The perfect venue for that dream fairytale wedding.

The Library + Hall

Our library with an adjoining dining hall is elegant and stately, adorned with beautiful composite columns, antique furnishings, and numerous artifacts of American and Masonic history. Lounge seating for up to 50, rowed seating for 120, and dinner seating for 80. A great venue for celebrations, corporate events, gallery exhibitions, or weddings.

The Egyptian Room

A beautifully crafted replica of an Ancient Egyptian Temple, rich in detail and adorned with masterful reliefs, it is one of the most stunning rooms imaginable. While not available for rentals, private tours and photo shoots to you and select guests are available.

A Scottish Wedding

Have you ever dreamed of having a highlander wedding? Walking down the aisle to bag pipes with a complete honor guard in kilts and highland attire? Our Cathedral's dedicated stewards, the Knights of St Andrew can make that a reality. Ask about our highlander wedding experience.
